The Immortal Memory

SATB, piano, fiddle | Duration c. 5'15"

In 2016 I was commissioned by Paul Mealor and the University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir to compose the title track of a CD focusing on the life and works of Robert Burns. Upon its release in January 2017, Immortal Memory: A Burns Night Celebration shot to number three in the UK classical charts, and has been widely celebrated as a fitting tribute to the Bard of Ayrshire. The Immortal Memory, which features SATB choir with simple piano accompaniment and improvised Scottish fiddle, is based on the poem On Receiving a Sprig of Heather in Blossom by John Greenleaf Whittier. The piece was performed in 2017 for Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Rothsay.

The CD itself is for sale on both Amazon and iTunes, and all proceeds from the Sale of Immortal Memory: A Burns Night Celebration go to the relief efforts in Ballater, Scotland, which was recently devastated by flooding.
