This short, contemplative piano piece was composed for a young man who has shown extraordinary resilience in the face of a very difficult situation. After breaking his neck in a swimming incident, Mathurin Gagnon made a remarkable recovery and was able to regain an incredible amount of function in his affected hand. Patience was commissioned by his Mathurin’s mother, Hilary Gagnon, and was premiered by Mathurin himself during the Covid-19 pandemic.
